Moving to New York City from her hometown of Canton, Ohio at the age of 18, Tangina spent 5 years pursuing her music career relentlessly and has built a loyal and growing fan base. Find out below what inspires her and how she is inspiring others.
What inspires you?
Usually artists name other artists as inspiration. Although there are many artists whom I admire and have been inspired by, my biggest inspiration comes from the people who support my music and the art of music in general. Listening to music is an art and sometimes I don't think people realize that. Hearing the feedback and gaining the support of those you support my artistry is an extremely humbling and inspirational experience for me. It never gets old and those people, are who inspire me. They inspire me to give them music that they can appreciate and love. They inspire me to always work hard.
What are your dreams and aspirations?
My dream is to be a successful singer, musician, lyricist and activist. My definition of success isn't the typical one. Although I want to be a name that is well known throughout the world, I want that because I want to be a voice that is heard. I want to earn a ton of money from music so that I can give a ton of money away. I would like to invest more money and more hope into our youth. I want success so that I may help others to achieve the same.
Have you worked hard to reach your goals?
I have worked extremely hard. I've been chasing my dream for a long time. There is a difference between chasing a dream and just following a dream. I moved to New York five years ago when I was 18 and didn't know a soul. I worked my behind off and networked. I felt my way around the music industry here. At last, things are finally moving along. It's a great feeling for me. I've been recording music since I was twelve or 13. I've been singing and writing music since I was 4. It just seems like all of the events in my life have lead to exactly where I am for a reason. It's truly amazing.
What would you say to others who are trying to reach their goals?
Do not EVER let anyone persuade you that you are not going to be able to reach your goals. Always remember that we all have a purpose. Your purpose was spelled out before you even knew what it was. Never let anyone get in the way of what you have to do to fulfill your purpose.
