This weekend I came across this poetic piece to the puzzle. I hope it moves you, just as much as it moved me. 

SHE SAID-                                 

"I wasn't holding on to you;          

I was holding on to who you       

COULD'VE been.  I wasn't            

holding on to how things were;    

I was holding on to how things     

SHOULD'VE been.  And it              

   became that much easier for me     

to let go, when I realized that in   

reality, you didnt give me much
